Lone Star Award

Daylight savings goes for one more week and we’re back to normal at next week with a bit more light.

It’ll be amazing next Sunday when we have an extra hour and sunlight on the water at 6am. I know it plays on peoples minds so I just wanted to give Sam Garland the Lone Star Award for his efforts in the dark this morning. He was amazing.

Sam arrived early, helped put the lane ropes out and dived straight in at 6.

Here’s what he did:

600m Warm-Up

3x200m Efforts with Paddles

4x400m made up of 100m efforts where:

  • 1st 100m is flat out with a rest at the end of 20 seconds

  • 2nd 100m is also flat out but there is no rest you just start an easy 100m and that is an active recovery swim

  • 3rd 100m easy swim aka active recovery then straight into the next 100m ie no rest

  • 4th 100m is another best effort swim with a rest at the end of 20 seconds and then start first 100m best effort in the the next set of 4x100m.

Repeat 4 times to make 2.8km.

Sam Garland untied the lane ropes and did 4 more laps to make 3km. And for that Sam gets the Lone Star Award.
